Icons of Style

Icons of Style, was a collaboration for Macy’s highlighting five Black visionaries that help move the fashion world forward. Featuring exclusive designs across ready-to-wear, men’s, and shoes by Zerina Akers, Misa Hylton, Aminah Abdul Jillil, Allen Onyia and Ouigi Theodore, each capsule collection is inspired by their unique point of view and style. While at Axis I designed a dynamic mailer that went out to style bloggers, fashion editors and influencers, bringing into the fold the personality of each designer through music.

For this piece the goal of the design was to make it look like a retro record player. Each kit opened up to reveal a gift card, note and 5 mini-records, each representing one of the designers in the collection. Each record doubled as a coaster and was made from actual recycled records. To help amplify the experience a QR code for each designer linked back to their bio and a curated playlist with their own personal music inspiration.
